(11 Oct 07) A presentation featuring brief overviews on the nuclear energy in China and in Malaysia was given by Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen Ninh, a temporary staff of the RCARO from VAEC (Vietnam Atomic Energy Commission) to the RCARO staff on October 11, 2007. She introduced the main missions and functions of the China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA) as a National Regulatory Body in the field of nuclear-related issues, and also the role and responsibilities of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) as the biggest nuclear power company in China. She also made introduction about the Malaysia Nuclear Agency (MNA), which has been taking over all the missions and functions of the Malaysia Institute of Nuclear Technology Research (MINT) since 2007. A brief overview on the status of research, development, and peaceful applications of atomic energy in China and Malaysia was elaborated, emphasizing that through international nuclear cooperation system such as IAEA, RCA and FNCA and other bilateral cooperation activities, not only China and Malaysia but also other regional states have been effectively developed and utilized nuclear science and technology for the sake of human life in the region.
