ASEAN/RCARO/KIRAMS Trainer Training Course on Advanced Radiotherapy held on 11-15 November 2019 in Seoul, Korea

The ASEAN/RCARO/KIRAMS Trainer Training Course on Advanced Radiotherapy was held on 11-15 November 2019 in Seoul, Korea, involving 19 radiotherapy health professionals from 9 Governmet Parties.

With the aim to enhance capability of radiation oncologists and medical physicists in the application of advanced radiotherapy, the training course provided lectures covering various topics on the Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) and hypofractionated radiotherapy. The participants were also offered hands-on activities on contouring and treatment planning and an opportunity to visit related facilities. In addition, a workshop for the International Day of Medical Physics (IDMP) was held during the training course, in which the participants could share the medical physics status of the respective countries.

Based on the strong support of the RCA Regional Office and the Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences (KIRAMS), this event was acclaimed by the participants for successfully enhancing their ability to implement the advanced radiotherapy effectively and safely in their clinics. Furthermore, the participants are expected to desseminate the gained knowledge to contribute to strengthening radiotherapy programmes of their countries through organizing similar activities in their nations.
