RCA/KAERI Introductory Training Course on Radiation Technology and Its Applications held on 28 October – 8 November 2019 in Daejeon, Korea

The RCA/KAERI Introductory Training Course on Radiation Technology and Its Applications was held on 28 October – 8 November 2019 in Daejeon, Korea, being attended by 17 technical and managerial professionals involved in the field of radiation application technology from 11 Government Parties. Mr Pill Hwan Park, Director of the RCA Regional Office, expressed his confidence that the participants would obtain technical and practical knowledge on radiation technology and its applications through the event during his opening remarks.

The two-week training course provided the participants with lectures on radiation policy & safety, research reactor technology, and radiation applications in various fields by recognized experts from Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS), Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Science and others. Moreover, the participants had opportunities to visit radiation related facilities such as Hanaro Research Reactor and RI production facilities in KAERI, CyberKnife Center in KIRAMS and the Radiation Breeding Center in the Advanced Radiation Technology Institute (ARTI) of KAERI.

In addition to successfully enhancing the participants’ capacity in the field of radiation application technology, the event was recognized to have had contributed to promoting partnerships among the Government Parties as well as with the Korean facilities through the exchange of knowledge and experiences.
