Workshop Overview
This workshop, conducted in co-operation with RCA Regional Office (RCARO) and Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), introduces participant information on research reactor utilization and radiation application technology based on the experiences of RCA Member States and Korea. Key issues include: status of radiation application technology, research reactor utilization and application technology, radioisotope and radiation application technology. The workshop will consist of lectures, discussions and field trips to the related facilities and equipment.

We encourage early nomination of participants for the workshop. Prior to submit the completed application form, sending brief notification of nominee’s basic information which includes name, age, academic qualification, current position and description of duties, English proficiency level, and contact information (i.e. work address, e-mail address, phone/fax numbers) by e-mail ([email protected]) or fax(82-42-864-1626) will be appreciated.

Qualifications
- Technical and managerial professionals directly involved in the field of research reactor utilization and radiation application technology in government authorities, R&D institutes and regulatory bodies
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in research reactor utilization and radiation application technology
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- Verbal and written communication abilities in English: All non-native English speaking applicants to the workshop must provide evidence of English proficiency from authorized organizations
※ Please note that selected participants are expected to attend all workshop sessions conducted in English.
Airline Tickets & Living Expenses
- RCARO bears the cost of an economy class round-trip air ticket from the nearest INTERNATIONAL airport in residence of the participants to Incheon International Airport (Korea).
- RCARO provides a certain amount of living expenses in the form of a cash allowance (per diem).
- RCARO provides standard travel insurance. HOWEVER, the nominating administrators are strongly advised to provide participants with life and medical insurance throughout the entire period of the workshop. RCARO and KAERI shall not be responsible for any loss, injury, or damage to person, property, or otherwise in connection with any accommodation, transportation or other services, resulting directly or indirectly- from any dangers, fires, accidents, strikes, riots, thefts, epidemics, medical or custom department regulations, defaults, or any other causes beyond RCARO’s control.
Workshop Description
- Through this workshop, participants will discuss and explore topics:
1) Safety of research reactors
2) Operation and maintenance of research reactor
3) Experience on construction and decommissioning of research reactor
4) Research on neutron beam utilization
5) Cyclotron and medical application of RI
6) Electric beam applications
7) RI production, industrial applications of radiation and Radioisotopes
8) Advanced applications of radiation and radioisotope on food, biology, environment, agriculture, etc.
9) Technical visit to the related facilities
- All participants are requested to prepare a country activities on research reactor utilization and radiation application activities and
present it to their fellow trainees during the workshop.
